San Francisco Giants

Carlos Rodon: fills the void left by not bringing back Gausman. There are concerns regarding the fact that his velocity has been declining over the last few seasons. I am glad they spent money on a replacement for Kevin Gausman however I feel as though the rotation is weaker due to his absence.

Colorado Rockies

Kris Bryant: Truly perplexing. I have no clue why they gave Nolan Arenado an opt out in his contract and ended up trading him to then offer a huge contract to Bryant. It would have been better to keep Arenado at the hot corner for two reasons: he wanted to be there long term and he is better both offensively and defensively than Bryant. The Rockies hired a new President of Baseball Operations after the Arenado trade, so I guess they are trying to change directions/revert back to where they were before? I want to say it’s gonna get worse before it gets better but that can only be said when there is a clear vision. Which CLEARLY is not the case here.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Freddie Freeman: Freddie Freeman going to the Dodgers pushes an already elite lineup over the edge. He will be the anchor of their lineup along with the infield, bringing his Gold Glove defense at first base. The questions for them lies in pitching as Clayton Kershaw is getting older and it remains to be seen how Dustin May performs after Tommy John. They lost Max Scherzer to free agency and brought in Andrew Heaney. Heaney struggled last season with the Angels and Yankees. While the Dodgers do have tremendous pitching development I fear it may be too little too late.
